NHS South East Essex

Info on the team

The South East Essex Health Trainer Service has 6 part time Health Trainers, an administrator and project co-ordinator. Our mixture of backgrounds, qualifications and experiences gives us a wide collaborative knowledge on the impact of lifestyle on health and having made lifestyle changes ourselves we can appreciate how difficult it can be.

What we do

We assist adults to consider areas such as stopping smoking, weight management, eating healthily, reducing alcohol and increasing physical activity. We can work with a person from one up to six sessions on one particular area. We work by helping you to set a small, achievable goal and teaching you techniques to overcome difficulties along the way. For those who don't want to try a class or activity by themselves for the first time we will even come with you. However if all you want is information or to be pointed in the right direction we are aware of many local services, groups and activities that we can put you in touch with.

Partners

Focusing on the Southend and Canvey Island areas within South East Essex we spend a lot of time in the local communities. We hold monthly drop in's in children centres, cafes, churches as well as PCT buildings. We work closely with places such as the women' refuge, exercise referral scheme and street wardens to support each other’s work. We are always willing to take our service into businesses and residential scheme. Some examples are YMCA, Family Mosaic, bus drivers and call centres.
