NHS Berkshire West
Info on the team
The NHS Berkshire West Health Trainer Service is a free service provided for residents of Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire, to support people who want to make healthy lifestyle changes, such as stop smoking, reduce alcohol, loose weight, eat healthier and engage in more physical activity.
We offer up to 8 one to one sessions with a client helping them to develop personal health plans and motivate them to initiate and sustain their behaviour change. We meet with them in community centres that are most accessible to them.
The Health Trainer is also knowledgeable about local services and can signpost the client to other services, which are available locally. The Health Trainer tries to improve peoples access to health services and in so doing reduce health inequalities. The Berkshire West Health Trainer Team can draw from a range of backgrounds in the areas of health promotion, leisure, nutrition and social care to support our clients.
The Health Trainer Service as a key local stakeholder in public health sector contributes to local, regional and national debates about health services and make contributions to improvement of service delivery. We partner with a number of stakeholders including the local councils, probation service, voluntary organizations, community groups, government agencies and businesses.
