History of Parkwood Healthcare

Parkwood Healthcare is a wholly owned subsidiary of Parkwood Holdings plc, a £100m turnover support services group. Parkwood Healthcare was established in 1997 following the acquisition of Hibernian Nursing Agency (now the London office) and Mayfield Nursing Agency. A third branch was also set up in Bishop’s Stortford at this time.

In 2001 Parkwood Healthcare completed the acquisition of National Ambulance Service (NAS), a dedicated and well-respected patient transport provider that has provided services to prestigious NHS Trusts since 1992. By continuing to trade under the strong brand, National Ambulance Service has developed its reputation as a major private sector provider of patient transport services. To further develop our healthcare services, NinA (Nurses in Ambulances) was launched in September 2005. This service offers all grades of nursing staff, for patient escort and support duties.

Parkwood, a fully listed public company, provides services in the following areas: amenity horticulture, leisure management, healthcare and defence. The Group’s business is organised into four operational trading divisions as set out in the chart below.
